Hemoglobin a1c is a minor component of hemoglobin to which glucose binds. hemoglobin a1c levels depend on blood glucose concentrations. in most labs, the normal range for hemoglobin a1c is 4% to 5.9%. in well-controlled diabetic patients, hemoglobin a1c levels are less than 7.0%. hemoglobin a1c test – high results.. Non-diabetics have hemoglobin a1c numbers in the range of 4-5.9%, so when the test number tests over 6.0%, some doctors tell their patients they are borderline diabetic. but there can be at least a half percentage point (0.5%) difference between two tests depending on how they are done.. It shows your average bgl is 122 so that means you have highs and lows which average out to 122 so that is one of those things you will not know. i think 5.9 is great but when you test do you see 140s and above or always below that..

That means if your a1c is 6, it might indicate a range from 5.5 to 6.5. some people may have a blood glucose test that indicates diabetes but their a1c is normal, or vice versa..
